Andrew Burns is a biologist by training and an explorer and jack of all trades by inclination.

He writes about neuroscience and chronic pain for 1step2life, an app to support people – particular teens – living with chronic illness and the caregivers who support them.

After publishing Lord of the Night Skies, he began researching In The Hole There Were Some Bones as a tale to tell his youngest son and his best friend.

He is an enthusiastic ukulele player, a dedicated searcher for ancient tech, and a teller of tales.

My Work

Lord of the Night Sky

The gods think, therefore we are. The gods are mortal. The gods are starving.

Set in the recent past, the story opens with Colonel Crane extracting archaeologist, Ted Young, from a failed investigation of what seemed to be a small-time Mexican money laundering operation. As they flee Mexico, it becomes clear that Ted has stumbled into something much bigger. And it’s radioactive.

Available through Amazon. Soon to be released as a podcast.

In The Hole There Were Some Bones

My current novel is set in the Viking era. The first of a series following an all to curious Norse boy, his mentor, and a budding young shield maiden from Norway and across medieval Europe.

As always old technology is a source of fascination to me. Fiskar works among the ragtag apprentice ropemakers who rig the Viking ships carrying terror and treasure across the seas.

Follow research, development and progress on the Talking Tech blog.

Talking Tech. Old Tech

One of the fun things about researching a novel is spending way too much time watching YouTube videos of blacksmiths, ropemakers, crossbows, and archeologists.

I share my favorites – as well as my own explorations – in the Talking Tech. Old Tech. blog.
